CONCERTS UNDER THE SPIRE....Saturday Coffee Concert 11.30a.m. 26th March 2022

Dear Music Lovers,

 

The second in our series of Informal Saturday Piano Recitals takes place this Saturday 26th March at Alderley Edge Methodist Church at 11.30 am.

Our regular Saturday Coffee Morning opens at 10 am and will lead seamlessly into this exciting new venture by rncm students who are working with Murray McLachlan.

Admission is free, but donations are requested.

First up is Evi Wang, performing

 

Chopin’s  Barcarolle in F sharp followed by

Beethoven’s Sonata in A flat op 110

 

This will be followed by

 

Beethoven’s Sonata in C op 2 no 3 and

Debussy Preludes from book two performed by Yulim Jung.

Evi Wang started her piano studies at the age of 4 in Shanghai, China. In 2008 she moved to Sweden to continue her music studies with Professor Marianne Jacobs. In 2019 she completed her undergraduate degree with tutelage from Professor Kathryn Stott and Einar Henning Smebye at the Norwegian Academy of Music. She is currently in her first year of postgraduate studies with Dr. Murray McLachlan as her tutor. Evi has participated in many international competitions in Europe. She was a prizewinner at "Stockholm International Music Competition" in Sweden, won third prize in "Music Without Limits" in Lithuania, and second prize in "Berlinske Klassiske Musikkonkurrence" in Denmark. Evi also received a scholarship in 2011 from Mai von Rosens Foundation and from “John Anderssons i Anderslöv stiftelse” in 2016 in Sweden. In 2021 she received a full scholarship from "Ingar Dobloug Stiftelse" to support her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. Evi has also been a part of many international summer festivals such as "Interational Holland Music Sessions" in the Netherlands, "Chethams International Summer School" in the United Kingdom, "Ticino Musica" in Switzerland and many more. She has had masterclasses with acclaimed professors around the world, such as Eugen Indjic, Matthias Kirschereit, Ulrich Koella, Jacques Rouvier, Christopher Elton and others. Aside from her soloistic capacities, Evi is also an active accompanist and chamber musician, having played in many ensambles ranging from duos to full orchestras. In October 2021, she appeared as a guest musician with the Norwegian Arctic Philharmonic.

 

Yulim Jung, who has been actively playing solo, duo, and accompaniment in South Korea, studied piano with Hwa Young-sun Lee, Jin-hee Kim, and Jieun Choi.

In addition, she played piano concerto with orchestra in Korea and won the top prize in a number of competitions.

Recently, she won first place at the 2021 New York Young Competition and the Charleston International Music Competition, respectively.

She is now studying as a Master of Performance course at the Royal Northern College of Music with Murray McLachlan.
